MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT

Kevin McMullin…

A talented, versatile musician and wonderful story teller, Kevin has captivated crowds at festivals, concert halls, schools and libraries in the United States, Canada and Europe. He has performed at the Big Top Chautauqua in Bayfield, WI, the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center in MN, The Madison Civic Center in WI, and the Midwest Renewable energy festival in Amherst, WI. His performances are an extraordinary combination of music and narrative, humor and drama, using traditional and original material that leaves listeners profoundly satisfied. The stories and music that he has collected from around the world resonate with audiences of every generation and background. His original song, The Changes That We Make, drew this praise from Pass It On magazine: "His thoughtful words are empowering for individuals and communities." Kevin is accomplished on many instruments including the violin, autoharp, guitar, piano and tuba. Many of these instruments take a voice in the tales that he spins and lure his listeners into active participation.

Besides being a story teller and song writer, Kevin is also a playwright. His original musical, "Forests," premiered at the Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary and Nature Center in June of 1997 to standing room only audiences.

KEVIN MCMULLIN has been playing for old time dances since he began learning the fiddle with the Chicago Barn Dance Company in 1978. He has played for dancers across the United States, in Canada and in Europe as a part of a band for a performing folk dance troupe. A professional musician, he is a selected artist on several artist's rosters and is a popular solo artist throughout the upper Midwest. As a result of his travels, Kevin has acquired a working knowledge of musical traditions from many different countries. He learned his American fiddle lore from some of this country's finest old time fiddlers: Chirps Smith and Mark Gunther prominent among them.

“..[his] talents and personality are able to delightfully tickle the hearts and souls of all those from two to one hundred two.”

Jill Varichak, Iron World USA

All at once you hear a shot ring out, then another, and you are whisked back in time to yesteryear. You look upon a hill and see an unruly gang of desperados descending upon the train, horses galloping, guns a blazing. You had heard there was a band of notorious outlaws in the area, but could this be happening to you? Yes, you realize it is happening to you when the train comes to a halt. All at once more bandits come out of hiding from the nearby bushes. The door opens, the train robbers have boarded the train and they want all your loot. Are you scared yet? You should be! This gang of notorious bandits are wanted by the law for many crimes including horse thievery, bank holdups, train robberies, taking hostages and many other crimes. You’ve seen their wanted posters. Is today your lucky day……..Or Not!!!
